Xi Jinping power struggle : Why tensions are rising between the neighbours?

In a recent development, we have observed a standoff between China and India across the line of actual control (LAC). While such disputes have been happening between China and India for a long period of time this one is different. Different in the sense that it is more of a show of power rather than a territorial dispute.
With the rising notion among countries to boycott China due to COVID- 19 and China's existential territorial disputes it would be illogical for China to start another one with one of the most powerful countries in Asia.  So why now? Why would someone who has already made enough enemy would like to have another one at such time? Just a week before India has taken control over the Chair of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization where it has supported the notion of initiating probe for identifying the source of the virus and China was not happy. Besides this India as a part of the golden quadrilateral group will be making a new defence treaty with Australia wherein Australia's ship can dock at Indian port and vice-versa. Moreover, China's life term president Xi Jinping is facing internal scuffle from the opposition along with the losing confidence of the Chinese citizen. To showcase that under his control China is powerful enough to handle any threat this dispute is necessary. Xi Jinping is trying to send a message to all those who oppose his leadership both internally and externally that the country is in the right hand. Beside this China doesn't want India to support Hongkong and it is a warning from China if it dares to do so then yes India will have to face China as an enemy and how bad that could be for India.
